How to Gain Healthy Weight?



HOW MANY CALORIES NEEDED TO GAIN WEIGHT?
-- On average to gain 1 lbs a week you have to increase your daily caloric intake by 500 calories
a) For example, if you normally eat 1500 calories a day, to gain 1 pound a week you have to start taking in 2000 calories a day.
b) So count your caloric intake!!!

GAIN WEIGHT WITH NUT AND OTHER HEALTHY PLANT BASED FOODS?
--Nuts
a) peanuts, walnuts, brazilian nuts, cashews, almonds
b) eat bowls of nuts
c) brazilian nuts have the highest calories --- 6-8 nuts = 190 calories and 180 fat calories
d) Nut Based Spreads (almond butter spread and peanut butter)
  - peanut butter and jelly sandwhichs
  - peanut butter and bannana sandwhichs
  - peanut butter or almond butter and banana shakes

HIGH CALORIE DRINKS THAT ARE HEALTHY?
-- Soda Replacement
a) Coconut Milk
b) Liquid nutritional supplements (ie: Boost PLUS, Ensure PLUS, Store Brand Liquid Nutritional Supplements PLUS)
c) Fruit juices and Fruit smoothies

Gain Weight With Fruits?
--Dense Fruits
 a) bananas, pears, apples, pineapples, dried fruits

Gain Weight With Vegetables?
--Starchy Vegetables
a) potatoes, peas, corn, carrots, beets
b) eat potatoes w/ gravy, vegetables, beans, cheese, sour cream, butter and other condiments

Gain Weight With Bread?
 --Hearty Dense Bread
a) whole wheat, oat bran, pumpernickle, rye are actually more nutritious then white bread

Gain Weight With Soups?
-- Thick Hearty Creamy Soups
a) hearty creamy soups instead of broth based soups - I usually eat lobster bisque and clam chowder
b) cream corn chowder, creamy tomatoe bisque, cream of mushroom soup, brocoli cheese chowder
